Our Grasses
>LM Berea Grass is an indigenous, evergreen creeping perennial grass and it is by far the most popular lawn grass in South African gardens.
It has a medium coarse texture and it is a lighter shade of green than most lawns.
LM must not be mowed too short as is a surface runner.
It is well suited to shady areas and it can be grown in full sun as well.
LM is a low maintenance lawn that has excellent tolerance of drought and heat.
It is adaptable to a wide variety of soil conditions and has moderate traffic tolerance.
Buffalo
>The big benefit of growing this variety is that it is almost unbeatable. It can withstand some very extreme environmental conditions. It is also vulnerable to heavy traffic, so it isn’t suitable for sports fields or gardens which see a lot of physical activity. Buffalo grass is well adapted to alkaline soils (even clay) and, in times of drought, it retreats into dormancy.
Kikuyu
>It has a high drought tolerance. As a low-maintenance turf, kikuyu can be watered once a week. It will thrive and look like it’s been pampered by professional gardeners all this time.
It grows rapidly and expansively. If you let it, kikuyu can cover every inch of your lawn. As a runner type of grass, it spreads later.
